The Thieves line of products are based on an old story that happened during the time of the Black Plague.  There was a group of bandits that were going around robbing the homes of those who were dead or dying from this deadly disease and yet they were not getting sick!  When they were finally apprehended, they were given a lighter sentence in exchange for the secret to why they were not becoming ill.  These men had been sailors on some spice merchant ships and had learned that many of the spices had properties that kept you healthy so they had coated their bodies with these protective spices.  We now understand through studies that have been conducted in more modern times that many plants and spices do indeed have properties that can keep you healthy!
