Resources

I highly recommend that if you intend to use essential oils to achieve toxin free health, that you invest in reference materials to learn HOW to use them.  I am going to list a few great resources below:

  • The Essential Oils Desk Reference is THE definitive reference book for using Young Living oils and products.  This book lists every oil and gives you its chemical makeup, origin, historical data, medical uses and how each oil should be used.  The last section talks about specific conditions and what oils are the most helpful.  There are sections that teach about using “Raindrop Technique”, reflexology, hormonal help, etc.  Click on the book for a link to purchase from Life Science Publishers.  They also publish a book called “Taming the Dragon” if hormones are your challenge.  The same publisher offers an Essential Oils Pocket Reference which is smaller, less expensive and a great place to start though it does not have ALL the information included in the larger reference guide.
  • There is a website called Oil Testimonials.com that is really helpful in researching testimonies from other YL oil users.  You must register at the site, but there is no cost.  Once registered, you simply search for the key word and up pops hundreds of testimonies of others who had similar challanges and what they used.  Very helpful!
  • YLSearch.com is a search engine just for Young Living users!  You can pull this up and search for any oil or malady and see all that the internet has to offer on that topic.
  • Reference Guide for Essential Oils is a smart phone app that is not as complete as using the full Essential Oils Desk Reference but it makes a very handy portable reference for when you are on the go! There is another one available on Google Play.
  • If you like to delve a little deeper and learn WHY essential oils work and why they are the perfect fit for our bodies, “The Chemistry of Essential Oils” by Dr. David Stewart is a great read.
  • Essential oils can also be very helpful in releasing negative emotions.  Scents access the limbic system of the brain which is the seat of our emotions.  A NYU study proved the amygdala gland (the gland in the limbic system of the brain that stores and releases trauma in the body) does not respond to sound or sight or touch, but ONLY releases emotional trauma through the sense of smell.  A great book to help you discover why you might react in certain ways to certain oils or to determine which oil might be helpful with certain emotional release, is called “Releasing Emotional Patterns with Essential Oils” by Carolyn L Mein, D.C.
  • “Gentle Babies” by Debra Raybern is a great book for knowing how to use essential oils during pregnancy, labor and with newborns and children.  Mothers tend to be the first line of defense for the health of your family and this book will help you take charge with confidence!
  • When it comes to learning more about using Young Living oils to detox your home from harmful cleaners, Pinterest is a great resource for recipes and ideas!  Skin cleansers, natural toothpastes, shampoo, deodorants and household cleaner ideas abound!
  • I have designed a website with multiple classes on different topics so you can learn more about using essential oils and other Young Living products.  These classes are permanent and always growing.  If you don’t have access to a live class near you, please check out these online classes!  Click HERE!
